Kelly-Hill Company hosted safety training with KCP&L and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) on Thursday, December 28. Safety is always at top of mind for our employees in everything we do. This is why we start each day with a safety briefing, participate in industry safety training, and host special safety trainings like this one. You always need to think safety when working on or near railroad tracks.

Since 1955, Kelly-Hill Company has been committed to the best safety practices and standards. Annually, Kelly-Hill dedicates a minimum of two days of safety training for all workers as part of our company-generated training program. In business, we’re always learning; always analyzing to make ourselves and our companies better. Recently Kelly-Hill Company has been recognized with awards that highlight our safety commitment and reputation. To reach such accolades, we put safety and the knowledge of how to be safe at the top of mind. In looking at the safety statistics of our industry overall, the statistics are fairly positive, but we can always do better. Just because Kelly-Hill has won safety awards doesn’t mean we stop keeping safety at the top of each and every one of our employee’s mind on a day-to-day basis.

We’re starting the year off right with another safety excellence award, this time from The Builders’ Association. We were honored with two awards last week: first place winner in the Subcontractor Division for 50,001-150,000 work hours, as well as the Grand Award Winner for all Divisions for best overall safety program. The awards represent The Builders’ Association, Missouri Department of Labor Standards, Kansas Department of Labor, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Kansas City Office.

Kelly-Hill Company received these awards due to our “common sense” approach to safety, going more than five years and three months without a reportable incident. We are able to build on this sterling record by having dedicated training sessions, daily safety meetings, tool box talks and simply the pride of all our employees in being safe. We average more than 135,000 production hours each year!

This is the second and third safety awards we’ve won this year. We were recognized by NRC in January as a Gold Level Safety Organization.
